Sometimes it can feel like everyone else has it all together…
Like their life is going great, they don’t have problems, and you’re…behind.
I want you to know that this is simply a story that we tell ourselves.
It is simply a narrative that keeps us playing small, living in fear, and wondering “why am I not good enough?”
The truth is…we are all on our own unique timelines and journey.
You, my friend, are right on time ⏰
The answer to your misery isn’t shiny…
It’s not world stopping…
It’s not the miracle cure…
But it is the truth.
Here it is:
- Learn to be patient with yourself and have patience for others - We’re playing the game of life, and it’s a game of the long-term. Have patience with yourself enough to allow yourself to have space and time to really grow and evolve into who, how, and where you want to be. This won’t be an overnight thing and that’s okay. Have boundaried patience with others as they also grow and evolve.
- Cultivate and have compassion for yourself and others - this is what will get you through when it feels like you can’t go further and storms roll in. It’s okay to make mistakes, it’s okay to feel sad and angry, and this is also true for everyone. The world can be harsh enough as it is, let’s aim to have our own selves on our team, rooting for us.
- Breathe, sigh deeply, and hold yourself close - things are rarely as urgent as they seem - you have time to figure things out. Opportunities come and go. Jobs hire and fire. People stay and leave. Learn to listen to your inner voice and intuition to know which things are urgent and which ones really aren’t.
- The solution to most things that bring us anxiety, is to do it scared, anyways - First, of course, learn coping strategies to deal with whatever the outcome is and learn to trust yourself that you will figure it out. Then, go for it. There will never be a perfect time. You don’t need to have it all figured out right now. You probably never will. Take one step at a time and fail forward, often.
- Comparison is the thief of joy - it’s not that the grass is greener on the other side, it’s more like the grass is often greener where you decide to water it.
- No-one fully escapes the suffering of the human experience - the goal is to be able to hold it all. The pain and the joy. As one of the pillars of compassion would say, our common humanity.
Like I mentioned, I know it’s not the most shiny to hear, but it is the truth and reality of it all..
In a way, it is kind of nice that it isn’t magic, because this let’s us know these are all attainable skills and goals we can have for our journeys through life. ❤️
